Where standardized contracts are traded — futures, options, spot. 106 exchanges globally. Price discovery and risk transfer happen here.
🏦
Institutional Trading
Hedgers (producers, consumers), speculators, funds, banks. Trade through exchanges or OTC. Clear through exchange clearinghouses.
🛒
End Markets & Consumers

About CRITICOS

Global Commodities Exchange Atlas · A Berube Capital Initiative

What It Is

CRITICOS is the first comprehensive atlas of every commodities exchange and market in the world. We catalog each venue — its location, founding year, products traded, data feed availability, and strategic significance — in a single searchable database.

Parent Company

CRITICOS is an initiative of Berube Capital — a commodities trading and research firm headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Berube Capital's research desk (CANOLA RESEARCH) produces daily commodity intelligence across precious metals, energy, agriculture, and critical minerals. CRITICOS extends this research infrastructure to exchange-level coverage globally.

Who It's For

  • Producers hedging output on relevant exchanges
  • Traders seeking venue coverage and benchmark mapping
  • Researchers mapping global commodity flows
  • Regulators monitoring market infrastructure
  • Students learning how commodities actually trade

Data Tiers

  • Live — Real-time API (WebSocket, REST, FIX). gold-api.com for precious metals; CME, ICE, LME, SGX, MCX for institutional feeds.
  • Delayed — 15-min delayed or similar free endpoints (Yahoo Finance futures).
  • Market Pages — Public delayed data on exchange websites, scrapeable.
  • Closed — No accessible electronic feed. Historical or dormant.

Coverage Scope

106 commodities exchanges across 7 regions: North America (13), Latin America (6), Europe (19), Africa (18), Asia (39), Oceania (4), and International/Cross-Border (7). Includes every major exchange and most minor/regional ones.

Values

Research, not advice. Every data row records its source and real-time flag so the portal never mistakes an indicative level for a live print. We label proxies as proxies and delayed data as delayed. Transparency is the differentiator — founded by a CPA(K) + CFA candidate committed to CFA VII(B) Standards of Practice.
